(St.Paul, MN) -- Senate Democrats say they'll send a trimmed-back state budget to the governor in three pieces, but Governor Tim Pawlenty isn't buying into the plan. Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller says the first budget bill will cover higher education, plus relatively small-dollar areas like environment, agriculture and veterans, and public safety. Pogemiller says after that, they'll send the governor a health and human services bill and finally one for K-12 education and city/county aid. Meanwhile, the governor says Democrats don't want to put a comprehensive plan on the table.
