Asian Carp

Five Great Lakes States, including Minnesota and Wisconsin, have filed a lawsuit to shut down the locks between the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.  The suit is meant to stop the spread of the Asian Carp from the river into Lake Michigan and throughout the Great Lakes.  The lawsuit is also looking for more poisoning and netting programs for carp that have slipped past an electric barrier on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.  In April, the Supreme Court said it would not re-open a general suit filed in the 1920's against the Chicago River Canals.  That prompted the five states to file the new lawsuit that specifies the need to protect the Great Lakes from the Asian Carp.
